As the leaves turn and crisp autumn air settles, Kyoto offers unique fruit-picking experiences perfect for families, food lovers, and nature seekers. These farms provide seasonal harvests—grapes, persimmons, Nashi pears, and even mushrooms and sweet potatoes—paired with barbecues, scenic views, and hands-on fun.

 

Senya Farm 千弥農園

Persimmon Picking in West Kyoto

Located in Nishikyo ward, Senya Farm offers a rural escape without leaving the city. Enjoy kaki (persimmon) picking from late October to early December (adults ¥900). BBQ and sukiyaki are also available (starting at ¥4,150; reservation required), along with a scenic viewpoint.

Hours: 10:00–16:00 (open daily during season)
Access: Less than 15 minutes by car from Katsura Station (Hankyu Kyoto Line).
Shuttle available for groups of 10+ making meal reservations.

Located in the scenic coastal city of Kyotango, Tango Kingdom Fruits Garden offers a taste of nature’s bounty throughout the year.
Surrounded by mountains and sea, this expansive farm lets visitors enjoy hands-on fruit picking in every season.

Grapes: Mid-August to mid-October
Nashi Pears: Mid-September to mid-October
Weekdays: Adults (junior high & above) ¥500, children ¥300
Weekends/holidays: Adults ¥800, children ¥500

Hours: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Reception at 11:00 only (reservations required).
Reservations: Required by 17:00 the day before by phone. Same-day reservations possible if space is available.
Access: About 20 minutes (15 km) from Kyotango Omiya IC on the San’in Kinki Expressway.
